Paris, France - Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, along with Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (CCESD) Head Andrea Villaroman and Parks Development and Administration Department (PDAD) Chief Arch. Red Avelino, recently visited the OECO Circular Economy Solutions to learn about the French's innovative approaches in reducing and controlling waste, which can be replicated in Quezon City.

During their visit, they toured the OECO Washing Station, Bike Repair workshop, and Ressorcerie. At the washing station, reusable food containers and cups are thoroughly cleaned to minimize the production of single-use packaging. With the facility's high-performance washing technology, over 10,000 containers are cleaned daily, contributing to waste reduction efforts.

At the Bike Repair Workshop, bicycles are repaired to promote active transport in the area. By encouraging the use of bicycles, the city aims to reduce reliance on motorized vehicles, thereby decreasing carbon emissions and promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Their visit to OECO Circular Economy Solutions in Paris is part of their ongoing efforts to explore innovative solutions and bring them back to Quezon City.

Currently, Mayor Joy and Villaroman are attending the High-Level Event to End Plastic Pollution organized by the French Government and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Their participation in this global event highlights Quezon City's commitment to combating plastic pollution and building a more sustainable future.

Quezon City, known for its initiatives in waste management and environmental conservation, continues to lead the way in implementing sustainable practices. By seeking inspiration from global leaders and adapting successful strategies, Quezon City aims to further enhance its waste reduction efforts and create a greener and more eco-friendly community.
