Taguig centenarian receives P100,000 cash gift

Another centenarian received a P100,000 cash gift from the Taguig City government, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

On Sept. 7, Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano personally visited Lola Maria Quintua at her home in Barangay North Daanghari to give her the cash gift.

“Happy, Happy 100th birthday, Lola Maria Quinta ng North Daanghari!” Cayetano posted on Facebook.

She said Quintua, who was born in 1922, was only 15 years old when she went to Manila from Samar

In North Daanghari, Quintua worked by fetching water to raise her four children together with her husband who worked as a carpenter.

Through the Taguig Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), centenarians in the city will get P100,000 on their birthday and will get the same amount every year while they are alive.

Senior citizens in Taguig also get P3,000 to P10,000 cash gift depending on their age bracket based on City Ordinance No. 25, Series of 2017.

In addition, senior citizens in Taguig get free medicines for diabetes, high blood, and asthma; free wheelchairs, canes and hearing aids; and free nursing services at their home.
