Taguig kicks off celebration of National Women's Month
The city of Taguig joined in the celebration of National Women's Month, along with various national agencies, in a kick-off celebration held on March 6th at the PUP Taguig compound. The theme of the event was "WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society," and women from different sectors of the city were given benefits, programs, and training.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provided an integrated livelihood program for the beneficiaries, offering a rice business package and a frozen food business package. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a discussion on business resiliency for women with disabilities and made them beneficiaries of the "Pagkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa" program.
The Cooperative Development Office taught cooperative members, entrepreneurs, fisherfolk, and DLIP beneficiaries about financial literacy, while the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) demonstrated fish processing for the wives of fisherfolk. Finally, the Philippine Ladies League was given turnover of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) slots.
Mayor Lani expressed her prayer for women, not just in Taguig but throughout the Philippines and the world, to always be treated with respect, given support, and made to feel valued and loved in her message.
The National Women's Month activities were conducted simultaneously by the local government for women from different sectors, along with partner agencies such as PUP-Taguig, DOLE NCR, Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), DTI, BFAR, and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
