‘Market on Wheels’ staged in Western Bicutan
The people of the probinsyudad were more than satisfied with the different goodies they bought on sale at the Market on Wheels Program held last October 23 and 24 at Cayetano Covered Court in Barangay Ligid-Tipas and Nabua Covered Court in Barangay Western Bicutan, respectively.
Brought by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Market on Wheels program aims to ease the financial burden of consumers by selling products at prices that are much lower than those from the supermarkets.
This initiative led to a partnership with the city government which enabled Taguigeño residents to avail affordable products sold at the covered courts which were turned into a marketplace for those days.
This included farm-fresh produce vegetables and fruits such as cabbage, kangkong, carrots, onion, garlic, potatoes, ginger, tomatoes, squash, cucumber, upo, and sayote all at markdown prices.
Other products on sale were rice, frozen goods, dairy and meat products.
Gracing the event were Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, Taguig City Vice Mayor Ricardo “Ading” Cruz Jr., former Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, City Councilor Jaime Garcia, City Councilor Yasser Pangandaman, City Tourism Office officer-in-charge Ms. Zaida Ignacio, DTI Director for Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) Domingo R. Tolentino, Assistant Director Ferdinand Manfoste, Former Councilor Mariss Balina-Eron, and Western Bicutan’s Chairman Perlita Carmen.
