Taguig celebrates centenarians with birthday cash gifts
In a heartfelt gesture to honor their remarkable lives, the city of Taguig, through the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA Taguig), joyfully presented a centenarian birthday cash gift amounting to P100,000 to three centenarians on May 10.
This meaningful offering, part of Mayor Lani Cayetano's Caring City agenda, brought immense joy to Antonia Alano, 100 years old (First Grant) from Barangay Bagumbayan; Antonia Gavierez, 103 years old (Fourth Grant) from Barangay Hagonoy; and Maria Quintua, 101 years old (Second Grant) from Barangay North Daang Hari as they celebrated their birthdays this month.
Under this program, every centenarian in the city receives a cash gift of P100,000 upon reaching the remarkable milestone of 100 years old. They continue to receive this annual gift as long as they live. This is just one of the many initiatives that the city has implemented to care for its senior citizens. Based on their age bracket, Taguigueño senior citizens also receive birthday cash gifts ranging from P13,000 to P110,000.
Moreover, they are provided with free medication for illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and asthma. They also receive free nursing services in the comfort of their homes, as well as complimentary wheelchairs, canes, and hearing aids.
Aside from meeting their essential needs, the elderly residents of Taguig find enjoyment and leisure at the Center for the Elderly. This five-story building located in Barangay North Signal offers various amenities, including a therapy pool, sauna, gym, ballroom area, massage room, and cinema.
Truly, growing old in Taguig is a delightful experience, thanks to these comprehensive programs that cater to the needs and well-being of the elderly. The city's commitment to the welfare of its senior citizens ensures that they have a fulfilling and enjoyable life during their golden years.
