Taguig launches cash-for-work program
As a transformative city, Taguig City, under the leadership of Mayor Lani Cayetano, continues to provide livelihood opportunities for its residents. On March 10, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development - National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR), conducted an orientation for Taguigueños who are part of the Cash for Work Program.
The orientation was attended by 500 Taguigueños from 28 barangays of Taguig City, held at Hagonoy Sports Complex. Under the Cash for Work Program, beneficiaries will have ten days of work in their respective communities, planting vegetables in the community garden located in the 28 barangays.
To prepare them for the program, representatives from the City Agriculture Office and City Environment and Natural Resources Office provided additional knowledge on Urban Gardening and Proper Solid Waste Management.
The program was supported by DSWD-NCR Disaster Response Management Division Chief Bienvenido Jr. Barbosa, CSWDO Head Nikki Rose Operario, City Agriculture Office Head Emelita Solis, and Taguig City Councilors Ed Prado, Edgar Baptista, Jomil Serna, Alex Penolio, and Marisse Balina-Eron.
The Cash for Work Program aims to provide temporary employment to families who have lost their sources of income due to the pandemic. It not only provides immediate financial support but also promotes community involvement in addressing food security concerns.
Taguig City remains committed to providing sustainable livelihood programs to its residents, ensuring that no one is left behind in these challenging times.
