Taguig launches free ride service amid transport strike
The Taguig City government, under the leadership of Mayor Lani Cayetano, launched the "Libreng Sakay" program today, March 6, 2023, to aid commuters affected by the transport strike.
The program will run from March 6-12, 2023, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free hopia snacks were also given to commuters while they wait for their rides or upon reaching their destinations. Passengers were reminded that smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the buses and vans, and wearing face masks is strictly enforced.
The program offers seven routes to commuters, which include Bagumbayan to Cayetano Blvd. corner General Luna, Napindan/Tipas/Sta. Ana to Cayetano Blvd. corner General Luna, Waterfun to Market-Market, Waterfun to Gate-3, DOST to Market-Market, BCDA Petron to Market-Market, and Cayetano corner Gen. Luna to Petron BCDA.
The city government ensured that the deployed vehicles have official logos and signages that read "Libreng Sakay hatid ng City of Taguig" to avoid confusion.
The program aims to alleviate the inconvenience caused by the transport strike and to provide free rides to the commuting public. The City of Taguig continues to find ways to ease the burden of its constituents and promote public welfare.
