Taguig pursues gender and development programs
The Taguig City Gender and Development (GAD) Council recently held a meeting at Lakeshore Activity Center on March 16 to focus on mainstreaming GAD programs in all areas of governance. The meeting was attended by Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, who reiterated her support for the GAD programs and initiatives of the council.
Mayor Lani expressed her desire for 2023 to be a productive year for everyone, and for GAD initiatives to be highlighted in everything that the council does. The council has been commended by the Commission on Audit (COA) for achieving a high implementation rate for its planned programs, projects, and activities.
COA noted the 88.69% utilization of GAD funds in Taguig to address gender issues and concerns through the implementation of Mayor Lani's GAD programs, projects and activities. During the meeting, GAD focal person Ms. Jingle Nechaldas recapped the activities that have been implemented during Women's Month.
These activities included a Basic Life Support Seminar-Workshop for Female Employees, Lola Can: An Effective and Inclusive Urban Gardening for Senior Citizens, Standard First Aid Training for female employees, #JuanaZero: Effective Waste Segregation Towards a Clean and Litter-free City, and Skateboard Clinic with Margielyn Didal.
The council emphasized the importance of mainstreaming GAD programs and initiatives in all areas of governance to ensure that gender issues and concerns are addressed comprehensively. This includes promoting gender-responsive policies, programs, and activities in various sectors such as health, education, social services, and public safety.
The Taguig City GAD Council remains committed to advancing gender equality and women's empowerment in the city through its various programs and initiatives.
