Taguig reminds students on health protocols
The city government of Taguig on Monday reminded all teachers and learners to strictly observe health protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as in-person classes for school year 2022-2023 officially started, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.
Mayor Lani Cayetano made this reminder as she personally visited Signal Village National High School and EM's Signal Village Elementary School to check on the conditions of public school teachers and students.
She was accompanied by Department of Education Taguig-Pateros Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Margarito Materum, School Governance, and Operations Division Chief Danny Espelico, and Councilor Marisse Balina-Eron.
Cayetano said face-to-face classes in Taguig remained orderly and peaceful and added that the local government is on top of the situation should any contingency arise.
"Naging maayos at matiwasay ang pagsalubong ng mga estudyante sa unang araw ng pasukan sa iba't ibang paaralan sa lungsod na binisita rin ng ilan nating lingkod-bayan. Ang kaayusan sa unang araw ng pasukan ay dahil na rin sa masusing paghahanda ng mga paaralan katulong na ang pamahalaang lungsod (Everything was orderly and peaceful during our opening in schools that was also visited by our local government officials. We can attribute this to the preparation and coordination work of the schools and the local government)," she added.
Ahead of this year's school opening, Cayetano said various programs such as Brigada Eskwela at 'One-Stop Shop Bakuna' were conducted for the safety of teachers, non-teaching personnel and students.
Other Taguig officials who visited city public schools include Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit who went to the Western Bicutan High School. He was accompanied by Councilors Nicky Supan and Ed Prado.
Meanwhile, students and teachers at the R.P. Cruz Elementary School were visited by Taguig-Pateros District 1 Representative Ricardo Cruz Jr. and Councilor Totong Mañosca.
The Kapt. Eddie T. Reyes Integrated School was visited by Taguig 2nd District Rep. Pammy Zamora and Councilors Jomil Serna, Alex Penolio, and Edgar Baptista while Councilor Carlito Ogalinola went to the Bagumbayan National High School and Councilor Gammie San Pedro visited the Napindan Elementary School.
Councilor Tikboy Marcelino, meanwhile, proceeded to the Ususan Elementary School.
