Taguig reports 40 new Covid-19 cases in one week

Taguig City recorded 40 additional cases of Covid-19 in one week, 23 percent down from the previous week, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

Daily published data showed Taguig added 40 new cases from May 13 to 19 as its confirmed cases rose from 66,474 to 66,514.

The one-week tally decreased by 12 new cases, or 23 percent, from 52 additional cases recorded from May 6 to 12 with the city’s confirmed cases increasing from 66,416 to 66,468.

As of May 19, Taguig has 14 active Covid-19 cases out of 66,514 confirmed cases including three in hospitals, 65,994 recoveries and 506 deaths.

The Taguig City government started giving second booster shots to frontline health workers (A1) and senior citizens (A2) on May 19.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the interval of the second booster shot from the first should be four months for A1 and A2 priority groups. The Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccine brands will be used for the second booster shot.

As of May 20, there are 849,769 fully vaccinated individuals in Taguig consisting of 814,616 who got their vaccines in Taguig hubs and 35,153 from private hubs. The total vaccinated individuals represent 96 percent of the total estimated population of Taguig of 882,512.

In addition, there are 234,371 who got their booster shots; 66,350 senior citizens who are fully vaccinated; and 70,138 minors aged 12 to 17 and 26,098 five to 11 years old who are fully vaccinated.

Mayor Lino Cayetano said vaccination is important in the transition period to the new normal.
