Taguig's Center for the Elderly Welcomes EMBO Seniors with Fun and Relaxation
Taguig's Center for the Elderly opened its doors to senior citizens from EMBO areas on Monday, October 9, in a heartwarming gesture. A total of 100 senior citizens from Barangay Pembo were treated to a day filled with enjoyable activities. They had the opportunity to explore the facility, participate in sauna and massage sessions, foot spas, movie screenings, and savor delightful refreshments.
As part of Taguig's commitment to its Transformative, Lively, and Caring Agenda, the City aimed to provide elderly residents from EMBO with a firsthand experience of the center's exceptional amenities, encouraging them to relax and rejuvenate.
The Center for the Elderly boasts an impressive range of facilities, including a therapy pool, a clinic, a sauna and massage room, a cinema/mini theater, a multi-purpose hall/recreational area, and a rooftop garden. Moreover, it houses the Taguig Geriatric Program, a collaborative effort with St. Luke's Medical Center, providing senior citizens with comprehensive health services, including consultations and evaluations by medical professionals.
Every Tuesday, senior citizens can have their memory, visual, and hearing skills assessed, while informative lectures and forums on topics such as depression, dementia, osteoporosis, and eating habits are held on Thursdays.
Beyond its amenities and programs, the Center for the Elderly fosters a strong sense of community among senior citizens. Residents like Bienvenido C. Gonzalez Jr., a 66-year-old from Barangay Pembo, lauded the facility and its staff. He expressed gratitude to Taguig for prioritizing the elderly and encouraged fellow senior citizens to visit the center.
Felicidad Paloma, a 74-year-old resident of Barangay Pembo, enjoyed the free massage during her visit. Aside from encouraging fellow EMBO senior citizens to visit, she expressed her eagerness to return and enjoy the amenities again.
The facility plans to extend the warm welcome to senior citizens from various barangays in the coming days. As the Elderly Filipino Week 2023 celebration continues, Taguig is actively engaging with its senior citizens, including those residing in EMBO, to partake in activities specially organized for them and avail of the City's numerous free services.
