Taguig celebrates senior beauty
Taguig City - In the spirit of the Elderly Filipino Week, the festive celebration in Taguig escalated with the highly anticipated Gandang Mamita Coronation Night on Friday, October 13, hosted at the Taguig Convention Center. The event showcased 29 exceptional candidates representing different barangays of Taguig, including those from EMBO barangays.
In the culmination of the evening, the radiant Lina Flores from Barangay Bambang was crowned Gandang Mamita 2023, receiving a cash prize of P20,000, along with an exquisite crown, sash, and a prestigious trophy. Her inspiring vision entails the implementation of sustainable livelihood programs dedicated to the welfare of senior citizens within the community.
The prestigious pageant also recognized the exceptional merit of the runner-ups, each of whom received distinctive accolades. Socorro Raganit of Brgy. Calzada Tipas secured the 1st Runner Up position, while Esperanza Cruspero from Brgy. North DaangHari and Rosemarie Navalle of Brgy. Napindan clinched the 2nd and 3rd Runner Up spots, respectively. Evelyn Cabauatan from Brgy. Western Bicutan was awarded the 4th Runner Up position.
Moreover, special awards were presented to commend the candidates for their outstanding performances in various segments. These included the People's Choice Award for Evelyn Arquizar of Bgry. Upper Bicutan, the Most Photogenic award for Marilou Furio from Brgy. Ususan, the Best in Talent award for Esperanza Cruspero of Brgy. North DaangHari, and the Best in Talent 1st Runner Up for Nenita Camacho from Brgy. Sta Ana. Loida Penalosa from Brgy. Lower Bicutan was recognized for the Best in Production Number, while Evelyn Cabauatan of Brgy. Western Bicutan received the Best in National Costume accolade.
The splendid event featured a multitude of segments, including the national costume showcase, the elegant casual wear display, and an engaging question-and-answer portion. In her poignant message during the festivities, Mayor Lani Cayetano emphasized the value of inner beauty and inspiration for the senior citizens, highlighting that the Gandang Mamita pageant seeks to honor not just physical beauty but also the essence of character and dignity. She further underscored the importance of the Gandang Mamita as a role model and an inspiration for the entire senior community in Taguig.
